Hi, Maya Blackmon!
This isn’t just a business—it’s a reflection of what we believe in. We’re here to create work that matters, led by a shared commitment to quality and care.
My Teaching Philosophy
What began as a passion project has evolved into something more. I seek to guide people towards creativity centered in the story of human ingenuity. Fiber arts is an ancient representation of our species’ ability to live symbiotically with Earth’s ecosystems.
I feel as technology progresses, the organic and slow aspects of life deserve more attention than ever. What inspires me to create and teach is the goal to preserve the ancient parts of ourselves the industrial world can make us disconnected from.
Once upon a time, our ancestors looked upon their lands, built relationships with their animal and plant companions, and utilized their creativity to create the tools needed for perseverance through life.
Reintroducing myself to this piece of the human soul has been a form of therapy. It has helped me to think through complex challenges, see the beauty of being human, and combat the present and growing narrative that to be human is an antithesis to Earth’s circularity and the conservation of life.
